BBI Proponents Speak on 2022 Elections Being Postponed Because of BBI, Passes a Strong Message

Kenyans today woke up to the news or MPs allied to DP Ruto, alleging that the BBI promoters were planning to extend President Uhuru's term till the BBI process is concluded.

And now BBI proponents have cleared the air on claims by Hustler Nation. The promoters, which include Jubilee and ODM parties, argued that it was the only war that could stop the next general elections.

But the team also said that the BBI referendum was a must and if the 2022 elections were to be postponed to make a way for constitution change, then delaying the elections will not be avoided.

This means that the BBI proponents will decide to push the next general elections to a later date if BBI will not have been concluded by then.

With the BBI appeal already in court, the document is expected to miss the timelines set by the constitution on the periods between which a referendum and general elections are to be held.
