Kenyans Told What Fernandes Barasa Hurriedly Did After Being Caught in Sh12 Billion Scandal

Details have now emerged on what Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa did while he was still the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (Ketraco) boss after being involved in a Sh 12 billion scandal.

In a statement via Nation on Twitter, it's alleged that Ketraco spent Sh 12.7 billion on four projects that had been terminated. The four projects, include Lessos-Tororo, Bomet-Sotik, Mwingi-Kitui-Wote-Sultan Hamud, Nanyuki-Nyahururu and Olkaria transmission lines.

However, details have emerged that hours before a parliamentary committee grilling on the scandal, Barasa resigned hurriedly in an attempt to escape the grilling.

"This is among new details that could shed light on why the firm’s former boss (now Kakamega County Governor) Fernandes Barasa resigned hurriedly hours before a parliamentary committee grilling," read a statement via Nation.

According to the Auditor General, in the circumstances that Barasa resigned, it was not possible to table any evidence against him on the alleged misuse of funds.
