Big Win For UDA as High Court Overturns Earlier Decision by IEBC

It is a big win for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) after the High Court of Kenya overturned a major decision that was earlier made by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Judge Rachael Ng'etich directed IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati and his team to clear UDA hopeful ahead of the upcoming general elections in August.

In the ruling made on Thursday, July 7, Justice Ng'etich said that IEBC failed to prove that Thang'wa was removed from office through an impeachment motion while serving as the Education County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in Kiambu.

She further added that there was no sufficient evidence tabled before the court that shows Karungo Thang'wa was removed from office on grounds of corruption while he was holding public office.

The ruling means that Mr Thang'wa will now be on the ballot box if IEBC does not appeal the decision as a few days are remaining before the general elections.
