Former Huruma Ward by election returning officer Peris Maiyo is dead.
She succumbed to coronavirus at an Eldoret hospital.
According to a close family member the deceased developed breathing problems where she was rushed to the hospital.
"The deceased was rushed to Eldoret hospital and she was pounced dead in Sunday," a family said while speaking to the press.
Huruma ward MCA Lucy Ngendo Chomba mourned the deceased as a down to earth lady who served during the by election diligently and with dignity.
"Peris was a good lady who served us without discrimination ni matter our political or tribal affiliation, she ensured that the elections were conducted in a free and fair manner where no candidate complained on the outcome , this is a big loss not only to her family but to the entire people of Uasin Gishu County," the Huruma Ward MCA added.
The deceased conducted the March Huruma ward by elections where she ensure that everyone followed the protocols by the Minsity of health to prevent further spread of the virus.
"I want to send my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, may God give you strength during this difficult moment of mourning,i recently know what it feels to loose a loved one since I lost my husband recently. God is the best person who will console you," she added.
Kimani Wanjohi Huruma ward aspirant who lost to Chomba described the deceased as a happy woman who laughed with everyone and was ready to help them.
"I want to send my message of condolences to the family and friends of Peris Maiyo, may God give you strength during this hard time of mourning, your services will dearly be missed," he said.
