The Gubernatorial race in Siaya is tight, it's seen as a 2 horse race between former Rarieda big man Nicholas Gumbo and the vocal Siaya senator James Orengo. Gumbo is running on a UDM party ticket which is an affiliate party in the larger Azimio and Kenya Kwanza side. Orengo is the ODM candidate. In my humble opinion, gone are the days when you will stand up in a podium and start lecturing citizens on whom they should vote for.
Wananchi are maturing up and should be given an opportunity to choose whom they best feel suits to be their leader. We are not jogging up for elections to vote for a party but to vote only for a candidate who can deliver. What happened in Siaya where Gumbo's motorcade was seriously stoned by hired goons is a stupid act and uncalled for. Whoever is responsible for this should be brought to book. Let us unite and elect whoever we want. We hope the same scenario will not happen today in Homabay county where Wanga is running against Evans Kidero in such a tight and heated race.
