How Ruto Scored Big During Raila's Grand Visit To Eldoret (Opinion)

As the clock ticks towards the 2022 general election, the foremost presidential Contenders are busy crisscrossing the country to meet the electorate.

The ODM leader Raila Odinga was yesterday in deputy president William Ruto's Political bedrock town of Eldoret and he was warmly received by the locals.

The huge crowds that gathered to welcome the former prime minister in a region that is considered anti-Raila is a sign of good things to come in terms of Political tolerance.

This is the spirit which should be ecouraged across the board whereby every Contender is given an opportunity to sell his ideas.

While welcoming Raila to mount Kenya three weeks ago, Kiambu Senator Kimani wamatangi asked him to also tell his people in Luo Nyanza to be tolerant.

Wamatangi seemed unhappy with the manner in which presidential Contender Jimmy Wanjigi was treated in South Nyanza during a meet the people tour.

Yesterday's succeful tour of Raila took a deliberate intervention by local leaders who are Ruto allies to warn their supporters against violence.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi is on record urging locals to welcome Raila well asking them to give him time to sell his manifesto.

"I wish I was in Eldoret but I am on my way there. I have told my supporters and my people to welcome Raila Odinga in Eldoret.

I have told them to allow him sell his agenda without fear of facing any violence or being shouted down,” said Sudi as quoted by people daily.

Whereas Raila Odinga succeeded in his mission to woo the region which overwhelmingly voted for him in 2007, Ruto Scored big by ensuring that his Supporters behave well around an opponent.
