A member of Ruto's legal team says Julie Soweto's surprise allegations on a Jose Carmago left them sweating and confused.
Lawyer Elias Mutuma, one of the lawyers who represented president William Ruto in the presidential petition at the Supreme court has come out to admit that their legal team was thrown into confusion at the supreme court on the last day of the hearings.
In an interview with Citizen TV, Mutuma says that Ruto's legal team was caught unawares when lawyer Julie Soweto, out of nowhere, emerged with the now infamous allegations on a Jose Carmago who allegedly intercepted form 34As from the polling stations on their way to Bomas via the IEBC portal.

Mutuma recounts that the allegations left them sweating as they feared that it may have led to the nullification of president William Ruto's win if there was no good legal argument to counter it.
He recalls Lawyer Ngatia, who was the lead lawyer, turning to his team while appearing confused and reminding them that he had warned them the previous day that the Azimio legal team must have had a secret bombshell to drop. He says that when Ngatia warned them about it earlier, they could not understand why but the Soweto moment came as a reality check.
On a positive note for Ruto's legal team, he says, the IEBC had a competent legal team who were able to diffuse the Jose Carmago drama advanced by lawyer Julie Soweto.
