DP Ruto’s Crew Dismantles Raila’s 6k Stipend Promise in their Mombasa Rally

The Deputy President William Ruto was in Mombasa on Saturday 2021-10-16 where he spoke to a section of Mombasa residents on several roadside rallies. While at a rally in Kongowea Market, his foot soldiers took the opportunity to poke holes into Raila’s proposed Sh.6000 welfare fund.

Ruto who was received by a mammoth crowd continued drumming up support for his bottom-up economic approach claiming that he has got bigger plans for the small business enterprises when he gets elected to office next year.

His close ally from Kikuyu Constituency Kimani Ichungwa however decided to hit the nail on the head by telling Raila off about the plans to give out Ksh.6000 as a social welfare fund. He argued that the youths needs jobs and not handouts.

“We are here to talk about bottom-up because we believe that it is the only sustainable method that will help the youths. The other day we had they were talking about giving you 6000 shillings. That can only translate to Sh.200 per day. Do you want to be given 200 Shillings per day,” said Ichungwa.

The social welfare fund promised by Raila during one of his Azimio la Umoja couple of weeks ago seems to have got into the nerves of the UDA brigade because it was a counter attack on their bottom-up politics. It took them time to start debating Raila’s new challenge however it seems they have now decided to fight it back.

During Ruto’s rally in Kongowea he was accompanied by politicians like Mohammed Ali, Hassan Omar and Kimani Ichungwa among others. He also took the opportunity to campaign for Hassan Omar’s 2022 Mombasa gubernatorial seat.
