Political analyst Herman Manyora has however claimed that Raila will disappoint his handshake partner President Uhuru Kenyatta if he decides to choose Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as his running mate.
According to Manyora, President Uhuru has been supporting Raila with the end goal for Raila to choose his running mate from Mt Kenya.
Prof Manyora said Raila will disappoint Uhuru and Mt Kenya region if he fails to pick his running mate from the region.
He went on to say if the former Prime Minister decides to go for Mt Kenya, there have been talks that Raila should not quickly pick Peter Kenneth, PK, but select a leader who will ensure he will easily woo and penetrate the vote-rich region.
“It has been a difficult thing for Raila Odinga that being supported by Uhuru means his deputy must come from that place. If you bring in Kalonzo that means you will disappoint Uhuru. Other people in the mountain are advising Raila to look further than PK,” said Manyora.
“To look for somebody who comes with political capital. Somebody whose name on the ballot will ease your way around the mountain,” said Manyora.
