A unique welcome ceremony was given to the president. He was met at the airport by a group of young people who had impressive gymnastic and acrobatic abilities.
According to pictures provided by Statehouse Media, the president was awed by the acrobatic masters' performance as he watched them with deep interest and a smile on his face. Ruto, who was joined by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia, could not help but applaud the acrobatic team.
A visiting head of state does not typically receive such a kind welcome. The cordial greeting may have been intended to demonstrate the strong and growing bilateral relations between Ethiopia and the Republic of Kenya.
Ruto pledged to assist Ethiopia and other East African nations in achieving lasting peace during his inaugural speech.
