Embu Governor's Race: Tribal Calculations Give Wambora's Man an Upper Hand Over UDA Allies

With governor Martin Wambora serving his last term as Embu Governor, political heavyweights allied to Ruto's UDA/ Kenya Kwanza faction have upped their campaign trails in the quest to succeed him.

Former Senator Lenny Kivuti who is the National Chairman of Governor Kiraitu Murungi's Devolution Empowerment Party, Manyatta MP John Michiri, Cecily Mbarire and Dr. Njagi Kumantha are some of the front runners in the stiff race.

Though Mbarire and MP John Muchiri allied to the deputy president William Ruto have agreed to work together after nominations, political experts have opined they will still have a hard time countering former Senator Lenny Kivuti's force. Infact, experts have predicted that chances of the Ruto allied team winning the race are minimal.

According to experts, Kivuti has an advantage over his Kenya Kwanza competitors since he hails from the expansive Mbeere region that comprises of Mbeere North and Mbeere South Constituencies. Experts say that the Kikuyu and Kamba in this region will vote as a bloc for Kivuti.

Governor Martin Wambora is Embu and the Mbeere who have often argued for rotational governorship feel it's turn to lead.

Additionally, Kivuti has picked former MP Emilio Kathuri from Upper Embu as his running mate. Both Mbarire, Muchiri and Dr. Kumantha (ANC) hail from Upper Embu and may split votes from the upper region amongst themselves to give Kivuti an upper hand.
