Now that the problem with registration has been rectified, the commission's primary attention is shifting to preparing for the elections that will take place in August.
During a meeting with the candidates for president that took place today in Nairobi, the electronic body made the decision to adopt the electronic register and announced its desire to do so. On August 9, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will validate voters using both biometric information and physical voter registration lists, according to Marjan Hussein, the chief executive officer of the IEBC.
The independent election and borders committee has only forty days left until the elections in August, and they are hard at work preparing for an election that is free, fair, and trustworthy.
Marian continued by pointing out that the physical register is susceptible to fraud, but the computerized system keeps information about individuals who have voted and gives an alarm if a voter returns to cast another ballot. The number of votes that are cast will be recorded and kept track of by the system. Nevertheless, due to the fact that there are some scenarios in which the electronic register would be inappropriate, the use of the two registers was about to take place.
