Newly sworn Bomet County Governor Hon Hillary Barchok has vowed to sack all county employees who campaigned against him ahead of the August 9 General Election.
“I will not be comfortable retaining on the payroll any officer who sabotaged my government during the campaign period. That I have to be honest with you." stated Barchok when he made over 5000 County workers.
In an uncharacteristically terse statement, Prof Barchok told officers who are dissatisfied with his leadership and administrative skills to tender their resignation letters immediately so they can be released from service or they will face the sack.
In the concluded General Elections that took place on 9th August 2022, Barchok successfully defended his gubernatorial seat. Barchok garnered 158,798 votes while Rutto got 137,323 votes. Barchok defended his seat on a UDA ticket while Rutto was contesting on the Chama cha Mashinani party.
Rutto, the CCM party leader, was plotting a comeback after a bitter loss to late Governor Joyce Laboso in the 2017 general election.
