Political leaders and Kenyans across the country on Tuesday evening expressed their opinions after the Judicial Service Commission announced Lady Justice Martha Koome as the best candidate to succeed retired Chief Justice David Marga.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta, the ball is in your court, Cheza kama wewe. You have shown greater faith in women leadership in this country, move with speed and forward Lady Justice Martha Koome's name to parliament for vetting.."
She went on to urge the parliament to approve Koome as the incoming Chief Justice so that she starts her duties as soon as possible.
Ngilu expressed her excitement stating that she had predicted of a woman CJ and was elated to see the increasing number of women raising in ranks including New Zealand PM, US VC Kamala Harris, Kosov's president and Tanzania's president Samia Suluhu.
"A fortnight ago, I predicted that the CJ would be a woman, I am glad that prayer has been answered. This is a great bold step.." she added.
