How Karua was Received in Laikipia Days after Ruto's Visit

With at least 47 days to the August poll, ODM leader Raila Odinga and UDA leader William Ruto are considered as top contestants to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta.

Azimio presidential running mate Martha Karua has today rallied Laikipia county to popularize their agendas. Her rally comes barely two weeks after DP Ruto rallied the county campaigning for his bid.

Karua was in the company of Azimio candidates in Laikipia. She was warmly received by mammoth crowd who chanted pro- Azimio slogans. Her rally was to confirm whether Laikipia were fully supporting Ruto's bid.

Speaking to Laikipia residents, Karua assured their competitors that they will be treated like other kenyans if they win election. She also vowed to fight corruption urging them to vote "baba na mama".

" Wapinzani wetu wasibabaike tukisema tutapambana na ufisadi. Sheria ni moja...wewe mpinzani tutakuchunga kama mkenya mwingine," Karua has said.

Raila is targeting votes from Mt Kenya region to consolidate his support. The region is perceived to be Ruto's strongholds and that is why Karua has organized several campaign trails to counter attack Kenya Kwanza influence. She rallied Kirinyaga on Tuesday before camping in Laikipia.

Raila has today visited Samburu county a day after his rally in Isiolo. He was in the company of Peter Kenneth, Junet Mohammed among other allies.

Raila's key opponents rallied Nakuru county drumming support for Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate Ruto. They were led by running mate Rigathi Gachagua, CCK leader Moses Kuria and MP Ndindi Nyoro.

Ruto on the other hand is held a meeting with people living with disabilities in Nairobi. He had economic forum in Tuesday at his Karen residence before he camped in Mathare. Ruto's rally was after Tifa opinion poll revealed that Raila was more popular than Kenya Kwanza. Ruto's visit was to prove whether the Nairobi were fully supporting Mr Odinga.
