Change in the game as Mike Sonko Joins Mombasa gubernatorial seat race on a wiper ticket

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has joined the Mombasa gubernatorial seat race under the wiper party ticket.

The Wiper Democratic movement submitted Sonko's name to the Independent Electoral and boundaries commission IEBC among those cleared to participate in the party primaries.

The former Nairobi county boss will battle it out with Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo , who is also seeking a wiper ticket.

The winer is expected to face off former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar , who has been given a direct UDA ticket. The ODM ticket is a battle between Mvita Member of Parliament AbdulSwamad Sharif Nassir and Mombasa billionaire Suleiman Shabar.

Sonko was officially welcomed into the Wiper party by the party leader Kalonzo Musyoka , on March 25 with his team hinting that he was considering plans to reclaim his seat as the Nairobi governor.

His elegibility to run for the seat is however contentious seeing the constitution advocates for disqualification of candidates found by law to have misused public funds.
