Cherera & Three Other IEBC Commissioners In Trouble After a Senator Files a Case Against Them

Speaking to the media, Nyandarua senator John Methu, a first-term member of parliament, disclosed that he had submitted, or rather, introduced in the Senate a motion calling for the arrest of the four dissident IEBC commissioners for what he described "trying to subvert the will of Kenyans."

The lawmaker went on to say that the petition aims to have Cherera and her collaborators resign before they are prosecuted for "activities that threatened to throw the country into anarchy."

Prior to being approved for tabling and discussion by members of the house, the motion has already been received by the clerk of the senate.

Since the Senate lacks the authority to remove an IEBC commissioner from their position, it is uncertain how the motion will turn out. The National Assembly alone has the power to remove a Commissioner. Aden Duale, who has been nominated to be the defense cabinet secretary, has already submitted a new petition to the National Assembly asking for the dismissal of the four.
