The deputy president attended the ordination of Reverend Philip Muia as the new bishop of Machakos Catholic Diocese. A section of his allies from the region accompanied him to the service and when the time came for them to speak, they seems to encourage him as being he anointed one o take from president Kenyatta when he will retire next year.
Being the first one to speak, Mwala Member of Parliament Hon. Vincent Musyoka said that the deputy president William Ruto has faced a lot of challenges which has elevated him and won him public sympathy. He added that he is yet to face much more challenges in the coming days, though he encouraged him to remain strong.
Another politician from the region, Hon. Kawaya also added that all those challenges are temporary and they will overcome all the same. When the DP was exiting the church, he had time o address the people along the road sides and he asked them to support his 2022 statehouse bid come next year. He however asked any leader from the Kamba community who is willing to join him not to hesitate to do so adding that his doors are open to work with any person.
