Charity Ngilu, the former Kitui County Governor, is one of Kenya's most powerful women in positions of power, and she has consistently demonstrated her political worth.

Kaluki has served in key ministries including Housing and Urban Development, Health, and Lands, and she was previously the Cabinet Secretary for Lands. The iron lady was born in Mbooni, Makueni, in 1952.

She is also a well-educated lady who graduated from Alliance Girls High School, one of the best girls' schools in the country.

Before working as a secretary at the Central Bank of Kenya, she was an entrepreneur.

However, very little is known about her late husband, Michael Mwendwa Ngilu.

Kenyan politician Michael Mwendwa Ngilu died on July 1, 2006, in South Africa, where he had gone for treatment.

He was admitted to Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, where he died while undergoing treatment, leaving behind a young family but a strong woman.

When he died, he was 63 years old, and he had many political supporters, some of whom are still active in politics today.

Prior to his death, they had three children, two daughters and one son, named Lunde Jemi Mwendwa, Mwende Ketethia Mwendwa, and Syalo Ngilu, the only son.
