Jaramogi Odinga's story is well documented all over the world as he was the first Vice President of Kenya.His children are also famous, especially the former Prime Minister, Raila Amollo Odinga.On the other hand, little is known about Raila's mother.

For those who do not have an idea about her, she is the late Mary Ajuma.She hailed from Alego Usonga Constituency in Siaya County.The place is near Bondo where Jaramogi was born.

Ajuma passed away in the year 1984.A lot was going in the country's political arena at that time.Raila Odinga was among the leaders that were pushing for political changes and for that reason he was detained at Shimo La Tewa Prison as a punishment.

It is reported that the wardens took two months to inform him of the demise.But before the wardens broke the news, a word from a friend had already reached him secretly that his mother was no more.
