As President Uhuru Kenyatta's succession schemes are ragging on ahead of 2022 general elections, Mount Kenya region leaders and Residents still believe in the first in command as the man who will give them the direction to go during elections.
The top political heavyweights who are eying the country's top seat are hungry for My Kenya votes now that the region does not have a stronger candidate to run for 2022 presidency.
However, deputy President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga are battling for the Region's support. The second in command has been touring the region several times to popularise his hustlers agenda, and on the other side the former Primer is hopeful to receive President Uhuru's weight after working with him for the entire second term.
However, according to the Star reports on Saturday, Kirinyaga Jubilee chairman Mureithi Kang’ara has allegged that president Uhuru still remains the face of Mt Kenya Politics, and the unanimous endorsement of the BBI proved that they still speak in one voice under president Uhuru.
“When the people of the mountain make decisive choices, they do in unity and stick to that. The BBI unanimous endorsement by the Mt Kenya county assemblies is a true testament to the bond that exists among us under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said.
His assertions sparked reactions from Kenyans on Twitter, with some claiming that their support belongs to the deputy president no matter what direction Uhuru will lead them.
