For a long time now, wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been the kingpin of the Ukambani region. His political career has had a fruitful support from the people of the region up to a point where he became the vice president of Kenya.
However, this trend is purportedly not going to continue for long. The reason being, the deputy president has been making trips to the region to lure people to his support. We have sewn many defections from wiper party joining the newly formed United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
On Monday, the deputy president was in the lower eastern region of Ukambani, he received a warm welcome from the people promising him support in the coming general election. Toady, Ruto is expected also to land in Ukambani region. He is likely going to meet with small scale workers from the region.
The other factor that is finishing Kalonzo's career is the presence of Maendeleo ChapChap party led by Machakos governor Alfred Mutual. Mutual vowed that he will be on ballot come 2022 the same to Kalonzo. This will divide the votes of the Ukambani region.
From the view of political goings, Kalonzo needs to GI back to the drawing board and deliberate way forward. If he can't stand firm, he will see his strong base being taken away. This comes after the OKA is on dillema on who will be the flag bears. Likely its going to die because Gidion Moi and Musalia Mudavadi are going to endorse there presidential bids soon.
