Several people have lost their lives and livestock in the Pastoralist belt due to cattle rustling. The activity has been outdated and illegalized in Kenya and security have been working to sensitise the public on the need to eradicate it and seek for alternative economic areas.

Today, Isiolo South Member of parliament requested the Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki to procure security drones to track bandits wreaking havo and in the North Rift.

North Rift counties where banditry is dominant include Samburu, Turkana, Isiolo ,Elgeiyo-marakwet and Baringo. The MP argued that security agencies need to use modern technology to deal with insecurity. 
Drone is among the weapons commonly used in Millitary operations. The device has the ability to cover 200km taking photo on real time and video. It transmits the collected data for analysis by the security agencies.
