During the Ganda ward by-election campaigns in 2019, Jumwa was charged with murder in the death of Ngumbao.
She and her bodyguard Geoffrey Okuto are both charged. In their case, three witnesses have already given testimony.
Aisha Jumwa, the cabinet secretary for gender and public service, will no longer be a suspect in a homicide case in which she and her bodyguard are both indicted.

After making an oral request to that effect, the ODPP has now submitted an application that will have the CS call a state witness in the case.
Dastani Omari, CS Jumwa's attorney, requested a review of the case in a letter to the ODPP. The defense attorney had contended that there wasn't enough evidence to support the murder accusation against the client.

Jumwa's lack of gun ownership and lack of gun use were further points of contention.
The ODPP has the authority to end criminal proceedings, therefore it is within the DPP's scope of responsibility to request that a case be withdrawn from court, according to Omari.
