ODM leader Raila Odinga has secured the backing of atleast 30 County governors for his August 9 presidential bid, raising the stakes in the battle for regional networks and financial muscle that is critical for oiling the grueling national campaigns. Deputy President William Ruto, who so far is Mr Odinga's main competitor going by recent election opinion pollster, counts at least 10 governors in his political camp. Wiper party leader Kalonzo Msuyoka and his Amani National Congress counterpart Musalia Mudavadi enjoy the backing of the other seven governors, as per the public statement made by the county bosses.
