Twist in Mt Kenya Politics After Renowned Leader Sounds Warning to His People (Video)

With few months remaining to the general elections, political analysts have suggested choosing Mt Kenya leaders as running mates for whoever wants to win the elections.

"When these people say this about us, it means they look down on the people of the mountain. We should not agree since as a region we made many sacrifices towards the independence of the country... Our interests are not in their hearts..." This were the words of the speaker of the national assembly Hon Justin Muturi during his Thursday presser on his bid for presidency in the August general elections.

The latter seemed to be disappointed by the narrative that had been peddled in the country about the Mt Kenya region. According to him, the idea that Mt Kenya will only be able to produce running mates in this year's election is a lie peddled by leaders who are only fighting for their interests.

"This whole idea that our region will at it's best produce a running mate in these elections is a lie. It is in fact contrary to what we have seen in the history of this country since independence. We all know the sacrifices this region made towards the freedom we have in this country. These people saying that have no interests of the people in heart. Waache hio madharau." Muturi cunningly stated referring to Ruto and Raila who have previously shown appepite for the region.

Muturi also warned the people of the mountain against falling for this trap insisting that the Gema communities must vote as a block. According to him, their is still a long way to go hence central region needs not to be coerced to follow a certain leader from another region.

"Even you people from Mt Kenya I want to tell you this. Don't accept that narrative that you will only produce a running mate. Isn't that downgrading yourselves? Our region has never lacked presidential candidates in all the past elections. How then do you agree with these leaders who look down on you and tell you the best you can offer is a running mate?" the speaker said in his swahili press briefing.
