Following a campaign by the Azimio One Kenya Alliance Party, the United Democratic Alliance Party demanded that President William Ruto rescind the appointments of former Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, former Meru Senator Mithika Linturi, and former Malindi Member of Parliament Hon. Aisha Jumwa to his cabinet due to integrity concerns as new information became available.
The nominations of Moses Kuria, senator Mitjika Lintuti, Aisha Jumwa, and all other Kenya Kwanza selected members of his cabinet will proceed as scheduled, according to Mr. Edward Muriu, legal secretary of the United Democratic Alliance Party, who was speaking to the media.
According to Mr. Edward Muriu, the accusations made against the nominees by the Azimio One Kenya Alliance team are the equivalent of a witch hunt, and all three of the leaders, as well as any other individuals, are presumed innocent pending the results of any further investigation.
A person is deemed innocent until proven guilty, he argued, which goes against the idea of natural justice.
Aisha Jumwa has been chosen to serve as the Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action docket, Moses Kuria has been chosen to serve in the Trade docket, and former Meru senator Mithika Linturi has been selected to the lucrative Agriculture Ministry docket.
The three have been involved in legal proceedings with Mithika Linturi being charged with attempted rape and Aisha Jumwa having two cases on the go: a murder case and a Sh19 million fraud case involving the misuse of CDF monies.
For Mose Kuria, he had been charged of giving his family contracts from the government.
