New Mt Kenya Poll: Raila's Popularity Gap With Ruto Gets Thinner As ODM Overtakes Jubilee

A fortnight ago the Radio Africa group led by its newspaper brand The Star published an article about the popularity of various presidential aspirants in the Mt Kenya region. The polls which were conducted on a previous date showed that if elections were held today, 11% of Mt. Kenya region would vote for Raila Odinga. Ruto was the most popular with 57% of voter preference.

However, another poll has been conducted soon afterwards by Mizani Africa. The poll results which were posted by the former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama on twitter revealed a tremendous gain by ODM leader Raila Odinga.

They showed that Ruto still led by 58% (one percent more than the previous poll) and Raila had moved up 16 points and was currently at 27% (he previously had 11%). This means that if elections were held today, 58% of the Mt Kenya voters would vote for Ruto and 27% for Raila.

On matters of party popularity, UDA was the most popular party with 61% of Mt Kenya residents expressing confidence in it. ODM strangely came ahead of Jubilee party with 22% and Jubilee had 10% preference.

"Today's #MtKenyaPollRelease conducted by Mizani Africa gave @WilliamsRuto 58% lead over Raila's 27% in Mt Kenya. UDA also enjoys 61% support over ODMs 22% while Jubilee commands only 10%. It's clear that Hustlernation resonates with the majority & tranjectory is good towards 2022," read the tweet.
