Mutahi Ngunyi Alleges How William Ruto Planned To Ascend To Presidency As The Designated Survivor

Controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi is at it again as he explained on a theory with how the deputy president William Ruto planned to ascend to power as the designated survivor ahead of the 2022 general elections.

It had been predicted that Uhuru Kenyatta could be endorsing the second in command as the man to take over the mantle when he completes his term in office but that now appears to be a thing of the past with the two now enjoying a strained relationship.

Ngunyi referenced a situation where Ruto was contemplating rise to power should the president cease to exist as he revisited a past media address by the deputy president where he was questioned why he had skipped Uhuru's national covid-19 conference in September 2020.

"What Ruto was saying without uttering the words is that he had contemplated a situation where he was the designated survivor. He was telling the country that should there be a scenario where Uhuru ceases to exist, he is next in line. This in my view is distasteful but indicative of where his mind is," he stated.

He further compared the situation to that of Burkina Faso where President Blaise Compaore was thrown out of office by his closest ally Mobutu Sese Seko who managed to stage a coup d'etat against the then ruling head of state.

By ascending to power, Mobutu had also betrayed prime minister Patrice Lumumba who had appointed him as the secretary of state and commander of the armed forces.
