Anthony Mwaniki Nominated to a Powerful Position by President Uhuru Kenyatta

President Uhuru Kenyatta has nominated the Kenyan ambassador to Cuba Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri to the powerful position of Public Service Commission chairperson.

The appointment was made via a Gazette notice that was made on Thursday 25th of November 2021 weeks after the committee that had been given the mandate completed their interviews.

This will now give the way fir parliament to go ahead and do more vetting on the presidential appointee and if approved, go ahead to appoint him to take over from the late chairperson.

Apart from being the Kenyan ambassador to Cuba, he also serves as the High Commissioner, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Kenya to Jamaica, Barbados, St. Kitts & Nevis, Guyana, the Dominican Republic, and the CARICOM (the Caribbean Community).

He becomes the third chairperson of the Public Service Commission with the office having first been held held, under the new Constitution, by Professor Margaret Kobia who served beginning December 2012 until her appointment the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs in January 2018
