“No One In Mt. Kenya Voted For Ruto” Says Popular Politician As He Alleges What Happened Instead

Political temperatures are still high across the country barely four months after the conclusion of the 2022 presidential elections. The leader of the Azimio la Umoja coalition party and his allies have been keeping the government on its toes amidst rising insecurity and a deteriorating economy. There are also poor living standards with several cases of fallen buildings that have claimed lives.

Three months have now passed since William Ruto was declared the winner of the presidential elections after garnering over seven million votes across the nation. While most people believe that the central region played a major role in William Ruto's campaigns and victory, a popular politician from the region has claimed that as people from the Mt. Kenya region, they never voted for Ruto.

Danstan Omari who doubles up as a political scientist has asserted that no Mt. Kenya politician supported President William Ruto, stating that instead, the Mt. Kenya people rejected both the ODM leader Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Danstan asserts that Deputy President Geoffrey Rigathi Kiprono Gachagua is currently acting quickly to seize control over the Mt. Kenya region because he is aware that the votes they got from the region were not theirs but were cast against their competitors.

For this reason, the DP is working to appoint individuals like former Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega to the EALA to boost his ties with his Mt. Kenya backyard.

“None of the Mount Kenya voters supported William Ruto as president. Instead, they all opposed Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila. DP Gachagua is working round the clock to seize control of that area to win their full support,” said Danstan Omari.

According to Danstan Omari, Mutahi Kahiga, the governor of Nyeri County, knew exactly what he was saying when he stated that the incumbent administration would not threaten the Mt. Kenya region.
