(Nairobi county assembly, for illustration)
A speaker from one of the Western Kenya assemblies is allegedly a worried man. This is after he allegedly altered the county budget for the year that was passed by the members of county assembly. The budget that was approved by the assembly, according to the hansard differs with the altered budget and that of the budget book.
The resident's are now said to be questioning at what point the speaker altered the approved budget. Also they are questioning the reasons behind the change. A major worry however is the silence of the members of county assembly considering that this is a matter in the public domain.
The speaker has completely barred residents and the MCA's from accessing the hansard room. This is in a bid to conceal the evidence. This is after it emerged that some activists want to challenge the altered budget in court.
