Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru on Wednesday hosted this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations during a pop and color function that took place at the Wang'uru International Stadium.
What stole the show was how articulate she welcomed Ruto with cheers renting the air when the Second in Command's name was mentioned, before he greeted and delivered his speech.
According to Kenyans online, Ruto's reception was a vindication to Waiguru that Mt Kenya Region was solidly behind Ruto and the UDA party.
In past several interviews, Waiguru has stated that Ruto had connected with the youths and residents of the Central region, and that it would be next to impossible for any leader to win their elective posts under a different political outfit.
Shortly after the celebrations, Waiguru through her social media platforms acknowledged the leaders present and captioned it with 'Kirinyaga Rising.'
Kenyans could not keep calm with hundreds of those who reacted urging her to accept a Deputy President's post under Ruto's bid.
They added that her speech and how she handled the celebrations, were a sure proof that she is ripe to a deputy president.
