On Citizen’s Day Break Show, ODM Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna has said that, they had already known the Government wouldn’t support Raila’s quest for President come 2022 and weren’t bothered at all with President Uhuru’s endorsement.
However, he added that, the only problem they have as the ODM party is that the state should at least get out of the way and stop blocking politicians' ambitions and strategy.
“In fact the only complain we are raising is that on the quest for succession in 2022, the state should get out of politicians’ way.”
Sifuna also explained how ODM was never pleased with the results they got in the Matungu By-elections where Musalia’s candidate won. According to Sifuna, state machinery was used to prop up Musalia Mudavadi. The reason being that, if Musalia wins in Matungu it will give him the required airtime to pursue his quest for the 2022 general elections presidency.
“Our biggest complain in Matungu is not that the government didn’t support ODM. We are saying that the state machinery was used to prop up Musalia Mudavadi. And it is something clearly aligned to the 2022 politics succession,” Sifuna stated.
