Murang'a County was a beehive of political activities on Sunday. This was due to the presence of Deputy President William Ruto whose fame in the area has been growing day in, day out. The second in command was in company of his allies from Mount Kenya as well as from other parts of the country

Few kilometers from where Deputy President William Ruto held his rally, former Government official was holding his rally too though singlehandedly. This is former Principal Secretary Irungu Nyakera who resigned from his Government job so as to seek the Murang'a Gubernatorial seat.

Nyakera has been one of the anti-Ruto politicians in Murang'a. This was recently evident when Nyakera joined OKA together with his Farmer's Party a day before OKA joined hands with Azimio la Umoja. The Farmer's Party leader met with residents of Kakuzi and Ithanga as he assured area residents of many developments once they elect him as their next Governor
