The Azimio la Umoja candidate, Granton Samboja, is in the lead with 49.2% of the vote, followed by John Murtu with 22.1 %, according to recent opinion polls conducted in Taita Taveta by Mizani Africa. This has left Kenya's Kwanza gubernatorial candidate in the dust.
Graham Samboja is a Taita Taveta County politician and media executive who was chosen to represent the county in the general elections held on August 8, 2017. He backs the Kenyan Jubilee Party, a member of the Azimio la Umoja coalition.
This is a huge victory for the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya alliance, despite the fact that Taita Taveta is historically known as Raila Odinga's stronghold. At the same time, William Sami Ruto, the Kenya Kwanza Coalition's presidential candidate, has sustained a serious setback.
Today, Azimio la Umoja began operating in the Western Region of Kenya. However, today at Nairobi's Kasarani Stadium, the Kenya Kwanza Coalition is scheduled to unveil its platform.
