Powerful Governor Denounces DP Ruto During Visit to His Backyard

Deputy President William Ruto could have lost another foot soldier whom he thought was allied to his side after Marsabit governor Mohammud Ali denounced the second in command during his visit to the region.

The DP took his campaign trail to Marsabit as he sought to popularize his presidential bid ahead of the August 9 general elections.

An exchange was however witnessed when Deputy President William Ruto publicly declared that Marsabit County boss Mohammud Ali was undecided on who to support between him and the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

According to the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate, Mohammud secretly supported him yet his heart was not fully committed to the Azimio La Umoja course.

The governor would however fire back moments later as he stated that he was firmly behind the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and that his allegiance could not be questioned.

He reiterated that the ground had shifted and that Azimio was the only alliance capable of turning the country's economic fortunes.

"I have declared publicly that this community of Marsabit will support Azimio and elect Raila Amollo Odinga. Ruto was my friend and I was with him before but I have seen he cannot succeed." Ali stated.
