"I'm Out of the County" Governor Gladys Wanga Says Over Ruto's Visit to Homa Bay County

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has revealed that she will not be receiving President William Ruto in his visit to the County today, since she is out of the county for an official duty.

The president is expected to join worshipers at AIC church in Homa Bay Town, a visit which marks his first tour in the Nyanza Region since he was elected as the fifth president of Kenya.

Taking to her social media platforms, Wanga claimed that she was in Mombasa, adding that she had communicated about her absence to the president.

"I wish to extend warm welcome to the president on behalf of the people of Homa Bay County and request him to feel at home. The people of Homa Bay are of great hospitality, and will warmly receive the president," her message read in part.

The Orange Democratic Movement, ODM party county boss is among the key leaders in the Raila Odinga's led Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance camp, and who were on the front line in criticizing the president after IEBC announced the presidential results, and after his win was upheld by he Supreme Court.

Ruto was last weekend expected to tour Kisumu during the National Music Festivals, but he was represented by his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, who was welcomed by the Governor Anyang' Nyong'o as the president had not yet arrived in the country from his foreign trip.
