Caught Between a Rock and Hard Place, What Next for President Uhuru Kenyatta?

After the poor performance of the ruling Jubilee Party in the just concluded three by-elections in the country, president Uhuru Kenyatta must be a troubled man as the Jubilee Party leader.

The defeat of Jubilee party candidate in Juja constituency and Rurii ward by-elections could be seen as an indication that the president is losing solid support in the Mount Kenya region to his deputy William Samoei Ruto.

This may take back the president to the drawing to ensure he strategize again and put more effort toward bringing the whole Mount Kenya region votes into his basket ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The focus is now channelled to Mount Kenya ahead of 2022. The region is known for its voting pattern of voting as a block and the current happenings may likely change the scenario.

The situation may have teared down president Uhuru's 2022 succession plan and may be forced to reunite with his deputy William Ruto as an effort to win back his people.

The region seems to be against the handshake between president Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM party leader Raila Odinga which many regard as alleged plan to sabotage Ruto's 2022 presidential ambition.

The president is now seem to be caught between a rock and hard place, to abandon the handshake between him ODM party leader Raila Odinga to continue securing his position as Mount Kenya political kingpin or to continue embracing and weaken his position as Mount Kenya political kingpin.

Solving this puzzle will eventually crown president Uhuru Kenyatta as the country's political genius for eternity.
