Kenya Kwanza has started cleaning on Independent institutions such as Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision which conducted the just concluded elections. The Farmer's Party which is one of the parties making Kenya Kwanza has petitioned parliament to kick out IEBC officials.
The affected officials are Vice-Chairperson Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyang'aya and Irene Masit who had opposed Chebukati's declaration of Dr. William Samoei Ruto as President-elect. Farmers party has successfully delivered the petition to the Parliament on Friday, 9th September 2022.
"Yes, we are seeking for the removal of Cherera and others who we accused of violation of office," Oscar Kimani who is the Head of communication of farmers party told the local station.
Once the petition is validated, it will be presented to President who will later form a tribunal to look into the matter. The Ruto's camp has accused the four IEBC commissioners for violating the rule of law thus unfit to hold public office.
"Farmers Party believes that this petition to the National Assembly is critical to entrenching the critical value of the IEBC in the growth of democracy and guiding the code of conduct by IEBC officials in subsequent elections," the party said.
