Deputy President William Ruto has today announced that political leaders must set their minds and plans on things that will benefit ordinary citizens as well as small scale farmers and traders, and not based on tribal mindsets that end up bringing abject poverty and agony at the end of the day.
Speaking minutes after holding another crucial meeting with all Mama Mbogas countrywide in his Karen Official residence, the second in command has also emphasized on the need by the Government to come up with measures that will prevent citizens from suffering from the hands of corrupt and deceptive leaders in the Government.
"Leaders must base their politics on issues, ideologies and policies that will change the lives of the millions of ordinary Kenyans. They must rise above party lines to consistently champion unity, cohesion and work together towards presenting solutions to problems facing the people," Ruto said.
But reacting to his statement, kenyans on Twitter have come out in large numbers to express their views. While others have equally agreed with his message to the leaders, others have taken the opportunity to blast him for being a fence sitter. They have accused him of sabotaging the government from within.
Below are some reactions:
Marina: You also need to address the hustlers killing each other in Laikipia. If you could preach peace in the area, it is possible. You have a massive following.
Henry: Mr president to be. we love! @AnneWaiguru has tested positive for hustler nation! We welcome everyone every vote counts!
Otieno: Disect bottom up for Kenyans using definite numbers then I surely vote for you in 2022.Give us the specifics of bottom up model. Use numbers and structures in place for bottom up.
