On 20th April 2020, the National Army of Chad announced on National Television the passing of the newly re-elected president Idriss déby. They stated that the president died of wounds that he succumbed to when he was commanding his army in the war against rebels in the North.

The fight was taking place on Sunday and Monday in Central west of the country near Nokou. He was injured on Sunday and was flown using an army helicopter to the capital 400 kilometers away for special treatment. He has been in power for over 30 years.
The am now has taken over the country under the leadership of Mahamat Idriss déby Iton. He is popularly known as Mahamat Kaka, the son of the late President Idriss d éby. Mahamat is now 37 years which makes him the youngest head of states in Africa. This government should remain in power for the next months
