Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has recently stated that if President William Ruto can meet his requirements, he will think about working with him.
Currently, Kalonzo is the third-in-command of the Azimio La Umoja coalition, which lost to Ruto in August, and a member of the opposition.
He now claims that Ruto can enlist the support of his people if he can finish the development projects—mostly dams—started in his Kamba neighborhood.
According to the former vice president, he will only collaborate with Ruto if the head of state starts initiatives that will help the Ukambani people.
According to him as quoted by The Standard, "there is also the High Grand Falls Dam proposed along River Tana and we have said we will work with Ruto's government so that our people can benefit from it through irrigation so that we stop overly depending on rain-fed agriculture."
He has stated that he will remain in the opposition until that occurs and that he is prepared to assist the opposition leadership in its efforts to rein in Ruto.
Despite Ruto's recent threats to challenge Kalonzo in 2027, Kalonzo has also denied holding any private discussions with Ruto or the Kenya Kwanza government.
