We are heading into the general election on 9 August this year as the presidential race has been narrowed down to be a two-horse race between incumbent Deputy President William Ruto of the Kenya Kwanza alliance and Raila Odinga of the Azimio One Kenya coalition.
With less than 76 days to elections, Ruto's camp led by ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi has alleged that the government is committed through the ICT Cabinet secretary Joe Mucheru has plans to rig elections in favor of their competitors.
According to sources, the ICT has broken his silence and delivered good news to the UDA supporters and Kenya Kwanza supporters concerning 2022 general elections. Mucheru has distanced himself from the rigging claims but revealed his main job is to protect Raila's votes.
"There are people who are pushing for my resignation but they should understand that we don't want to rig elections but to protect our votes. We are in Jubilee and Jubilee is in Azimio," Mucheru said.
Mucheru went ahead and gave past examples of how he worked with Ruto's camp to deliver credible results and no one questioned his role as ICT cabinet secretary.
"In 2017, we were campaigning together. Why is it now different yet in 2017 it was okay?" the CS said.
