The chief justice position remained vacant after the retirement of David Maraga. The position was announced vacant and interested people were encouraged to apply. Many people have shown their interest in the position. In every competition, there must be reduction of numbers to a targeted number required. The following are the candidates who have been shortlisted for the position.

2. Prof. Kameri mbote annice.
3. Lady justice Koome Martha.
4. Justice marete D.K Njagi.
6. Justice Nduma Mathews ndani.
7. Ngatia Frederick.
8. Justice Ouko William Okello.
9. Prof. Dr wekesa moni.
10. Yano Alice Jepkoech.
The interview for the position of chief justice will be conducted from 12th to 23rd April. Judiciary chief registrar Anne Amadi says the 10 candidates will have a day each.
The acting chief justice Dr Philomena Mwilu is not in the list. Kenyans were expecting his candidature for the position but unfortunately it happened otherwise. The retired chief justice David Maraga will be remembered for nullifying the 2017 elections.
Today we have many female candidate for the position which bestows a lot of hope that this time round Kenya will have a female chief justice. Who do you think will become the next chief justice in Kenya?
