Big Names That Lost In The Tuesday's General Elections, Some Are Close Allies Of President Uhuru

Tuesday's general election was full of surprises. Perhaps the biggest surprise is seeing how the electorate sent packing some big names. That's not enough, as some of the big names are close allies of the incumbent President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. If I am to look at things and give a personal opinion, I would say the August 9th general elections have brought bout a paradigm shift in most elective seats.

Most losing candidates have so far conceded defeat and congratulated their winning counterparts. The prominent names that have joined the conceding list are as follows.

i. Amos Kimunya. Mr. Kimunya has been the parliament's majority leader since 2020. He took over from the Garissa Town MP. Aden Duale following the fallout between President Uhuru and his Deputy William Samoei Ruto. Kimunya lost the parliamentary seat to the former East African Legislative Assembly lawmaker, Ms. Wanjiku Muhia of UDA.

ii. Kanini Kega, the Jubilee Director of Elections.

iii. Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni.

iv. A four-term Taveta MP Naomi Shaban.

There you have it! Let us continue maintaining peace as we wait for official communications from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission-IEBC.
