Kenyans on Twitter have reacted hilariously to the outgoing Tourism Cabinet Secretary's congratulations message to President William Ruto for appointing his first cabinet.
The reactions have been prompted by the fact that Najib Balala was the first cabinet minister to congratulate Dr. Ruto upon their announcement by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission as the winner of the August poll. Although the results would subsequently be contested in court, Balala a known Azimio sympathizer stuck out his neck to congratulate Dr. Ruto.
He dragged out an old snapshot of himself and Ruto and barely an hour from the announcement was on Twitter congratulating the President-elect.
Balala who has been circumspect enough to serve in the tourism docket for 24 years without rocking the boat had his sights on being retained as a cabinet minister in the Ruto administration. Unfortunately, when Dr. Ruto announced his first cabinet on Tuesday afternoon from State House Nairobi, Balala's name was missing.
Following many brickbats from Kenyans on social media, Balala responded with a tweet this evening congratulating President Ruto and wishing well his successor Peninah Malonza. Kenyans were not convinced of the sincerity of the tweet and here are some reactions.
