
The Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga has nominated former Gichugu MP and Narc - Kenya party leader Martha Karua as his preferred running mate in the forthcoming general elections.
Karua's nomination come a day after DP William Ruto unveiled Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate in the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
As Raila named Karua as his Deputy, he aknowledged her as a strong woman who never quits.
He recounted how the iron lady represented him in court after he was arrested and imprisoned without trial in his earlier years as he fought for the country's second liberation.
As Karua takes her new role, Raila said that she will also serve as the cabinet secretary for justice and constitutional affairs in the Azimio government.
Other members of Raila's cabinet who have also been unveiled include Wycliffe Oparanya for national treasury and Ali Hassan Joho for lands.
Kalonzo Musyoka has been nominated to take up on the role of Chief Minister in Raila's government.
