Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri finally launches bid for governor

Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri announced his candidacy for governor on Friday, claiming he was the best candidate to succeed Governor James Ongwae.

Prof. Ongeri, 83, who spoke at his Gesusu home, stated that he has "plenty of experience" as a civil servant, Member of Parliament, and Cabinet minister.

To the people of Kisii County, I have decided to run for the Kisii governorship seat in the 2022 general election and need your support, "Ongeri stated.

The senator stated that Kisii's inhabitants deserved a "tried and true" governor, and he was prepared to promote his program. He promised to continue Ongwae's "excellent work."

Ongeri stated that if elected in August, he will ensure the county's stability and prosperity. Ongwae, Ongeri, and Woman Representative Janet Ongera stated that he was part of the same team as Ongwae, Ongeri, and Ongera.

Other candidates for the governor's seat include Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Simba Arati, Kenya National Congress Party leader Manson Nyamweya, Nyaribari Masaba Member of Parliament Ezekiel Machogu, former South Mugirango Member of Parliament Omingo Magara, Transportation CAS Christopher Obure, and Charles Matoke.
