Kenyans have been informed who have been allegedly protecting the bandits. Few weeks ago President William Ruto imposed a curfew and ordered the national army to support police and cattle rustlers in the borderlands of northwest Kenya amid soaring violence that took lives over the past six months.
Countless reports of community clashes resulting in casualties, cattle resulting and attacks on security forces. Bringing peace to the restive region has been elusive task of every administration to date. At least 42 police officers and police reservists lost their lives in 2012 during security operation in Suguta Valley.
Claims share by Turkana Woman Representative Cecelia and ner Counterpart from Baringo Florence Jematia claimed that the top politicians are the ones who have been allegedly protecting the bandits. They futher claimed that those politicians have been spotted carrying bandits using their helicopters instead of condemning the act. A report that has sparked a lot of reactions from people across the country. Turkana Central Member of Parliament said that the entire area is currently inhabitable as bandits have taken over the said area. Top security chiefs who had appeared before a joint sitting of the House told Parliament that the decision to deploy the military is based on the fact the human lives were lost and even the properties were lost.
According to the report shared by People Daily, the Members of Parliament alleged this while debating an adjournment motion called to discuss the insecurity in the affected counties, worryingly the legislators allegedly revealed that the top politicians in the affected regions were the financiers of the killings currently ongoing. Therefore they futher revealed that they should be investigated.
